Welcome to our website and school. Alongside day-to-day information, you will find examples of children’s work, photographs of day-to-day activities and a clear picture of our curriculum.

Welcome to Weeke Primary School: Where Every Child Thrives!

At Weeke Primary School, we proudly cater to children aged four to eleven, with a Local Authority admission number of 60 children for 4–7 years old and 64 for 7–11 years old. We are dedicated to providing an enriching educational experience that nurtures every child's potential.

As an educator and leader, I have always aspired to be the kind of teacher I would have wanted as a child. Our mission is to help each child grow into a confident, happy, independent, and creative individual who embraces learning and achieves more than they ever thought possible. Our experienced and passionate teaching team sets high expectations and continuously seeks innovative ways to enhance our curriculum and improve our school environment.

We believe that knowing each child as an individual is crucial to their success. Every child deserves to feel safe and valued, and we celebrate their unique strengths and talents.

We are fortunate to have a vibrant community of parents, carers, and local residents who actively support our school. The Weeke Primary School Association (WPSA) plays a vital role in fundraising, organising a variety of engaging events that enrich our children's educational experience. Our dedicated governors bring a wealth of expertise and work collaboratively with our staff to ensure that our children receive the best possible learning opportunities.

At Weeke Primary, we understand that collaboration between staff and families is essential for optimising our pupils' learning. We cherish this partnership, as it, combined with our commitment to high-quality education, empowers our children to excel, fosters good citizenship, and lays a solid foundation for their secondary education.

When you visit our school, you will feel the vibrant atmosphere of purpose, collaboration, and passion that defines our community. We strive to provide ‘ambitious and enriching learning experiences,’ and we invite you to witness this for yourself.

We warmly welcome you to visit Weeke Primary School to see our dedicated staff and enthusiastic children in action. Please contact the school office to arrange a visit or to learn more about our exciting offerings.

We look forward to welcoming you!

    Our School Values

Key Information about our approach to technology

Balancing Technology and Childhood: A Parent’s Guide to Our Digital Pledge

At Weeke Primary School, we are dedicated to creating a safe and nurturing environment where children can flourish. We recognise that while technology is an ever-present part of modern life, our primary responsibility is to protect your child’s wellbeing, health, and cognitive development. This guide outlines our commitment to a measured, research-backed approach to technology.

    Our Pledge: Purposeful, Not Pervasive

We pledge to protect our pupils from excessive screen time and unnecessary technology. Recent longitudinal research indicates a linear relationship between high screen exposure and poorer developmental outcomes; specifically, the more screen time young children are exposed to, the worse they may fare regarding language skills, social abilities, and peer relationships.

To ensure an enriched and child-friendly learning experience, we focus on:

Face-to-Face Interaction: Prioritising real-life socialising to develop emotional regulation and critical thinking.

Active Learning: Reducing the "displacement effect" where screens take time away from physical play, shared reading, and outdoor exploration.

Digital Competency without Over-exposure: Research shows that low screen use during childhood does not impede the development of digital skills. In fact, waiting until children have better self-regulation skills often leads to healthier technology habits later in life.

    Technology to Enhance, Not Distract

Technology at Weeke is used safely and strategically to support the curriculum. We use a variety of tools in an age-appropriate way:

EYFS: Children explore technology through play, using beebots, iPads for photography, and mechanical toys.

Key Stage 1: Focuses on understanding algorithms and using technology purposefully to create and organise digital content.

Key Stage 2: Students design and debug programs, explore computer networks, and use search technologies effectively and discerningly.

Our goal is to inspire the programmers and engineers of tomorrow while ensuring technology remains a tool to accomplish specific tasks rather than a constant distraction.

    A Smartphone-Free Environment

Effective from September 2025, Weeke Primary School is a smartphone-free school for pupils. We do not support children owning smartphones because they can facilitate cyberbullying, expose children to unfiltered content, and contribute to anxiety and depression.

Year 5 & 6: If necessary for the journey to school, children may bring a "brick phone" (calls/texts only, no internet), which must be handed to the teacher upon arrival.

Safeguarding: Our school is an independently certified "Friendly WiFi" zone, ensuring robust content filtering and monitoring.

    Working Together

We invite parents to collaborate with us by modelling positive online behaviours at home. By balancing screen activities with non-screen time, we can ensure our pupils develop into healthy, well-rounded, and digitally capable individuals.
