Weeke Primary School

Irresistible learning at the heart of the community

Why Weeke?

On behalf of all the children, staff, parents/carers and governors, I would like to warmly welcome you to Weeke Primary School.

Children lie at the heart of what we do at Weeke. We are a very happy, friendly, inclusive school with a strong community feel.

At Weeke, we aim to make learning irresistible, ensuring children develop a genuine (life-long) love of learning and that every child flourishes. We do this by providing the best possible education for all of our pupils. As a large primary school we benefit from a wealth and depth of talent across our pupils, staff, parents/carers and governors. As a result we believe that we can provide the very best opportunities for every single child in the school through our vision of Achievement for All.

We pride ourselves on providing a vibrant learning environment which nurtures and supports children. We encourage our pupils to be responsible for their learning, to grow in confidence and become independent. The Philosophy for Children programme is a key feature of our school and the work that we do to prepare our children for their rights and responsibilities as global citizens. We offer an exciting and engaging creative curriculum where teachers and pupils work together to ensure high quality learning experiences that enable every pupil to achieve their very best. A wide range of curriculum enrichment activities, the recent introduction of an enquiry led approach to learning alongside the performing arts and a thriving sport fixture list, all enhance the children's experiences at Weeke.

We are very fortunate to have a large number of parents/carers and other members of the community who regularly help in school, supporting a wide range of activities. Weeke Primary School Association are an active set of parent fundraisers, who have helped finance many resources in school and opportunities for the children, through a variety of popular events. We have a supportive and hard working group of governors who are highly skilled in different areas. Governors and staff work together to provide our children with the very best learning opportunities.

Parents/carers are welcomed as partners in their child’s education as we believe that our pupils learn best when members of staff and parents/carers work in partnership, so we value your involvement with your child's education. Working with parents/carers is an essential prerequisite to helping us achieve our aims as we believe that good strong partnerships, coupled with quality teaching and learning and high expectations at all times, will undoubtedly help children achieve their very best, lead to great achievements, promote good citizenship and prepare pupils well for their secondary education.

I feel privileged to lead a team of professional, talented and committed staff. We strive for further improvements for the children and ensure we keep up to date in the rapidly changing world in which we all live.

I hope that you enjoy browsing our school’s website and that it gives you an insight into all that we do at Weeke and the many different experiences and successes our children have enjoyed.

We look forward to welcoming you to the school community.
