Wed 24 Apr 2024 Jonathan Kirkham

In a heart-pounding finale to the Hampshire Schools Cup, Weeke Primary School emerged victorious after a nail-biting encounter against Wimborne Primary School. The match, played on the 23rd of April 2024, kept spectators on the edge of their seats as both teams fought tooth and nail, ending in a 2-2 draw before the decisive penalty shootout.

The atmosphere at the stadium was electric as supporters from both schools filled the stands, eagerly anticipating the clash of these two titans of the Hampshire primary school football scene. From the first whistle, it was clear that neither team would give an inch, with both displaying skill, determination, and a hunger for victory.

As the game progressed, Weeke Primary took the lead with two well-executed goals, sending their fans into a frenzy of excitement. However, Wimborne Primary refused to be deterred, launching a fierce comeback to level the score at 2-2. With tensions running high and neither team able to break the deadlock in regular time, the match headed into the dreaded penalty shootout.

In the nerve-wracking shootout that followed, it was Weeke Primary who held their nerve, demonstrating composure and focus under pressure. With each perfectly placed penalty, they edged closer to victory, until finally, they scored the winning spot-kick, securing the Hampshire Schools Cup for their school.

Mr. Kirkham, the Headteacher of Weeke Primary, could hardly contain his pride and joy at his team's achievement. "The game certainly played like a final, and the boys kept themselves determined and eager to bring home the cup," he remarked. "I am super proud of their achievements and want to thank Mr. Weatherall, the team, and the parents for all their support and commitment. Go team Weeke!"

Indeed, the victory was a testament to the hard work, dedication, and teamwork displayed by the players, coaches, and supporters of Weeke Primary School. As they celebrated their triumph on the pitch, they showed that with passion and determination, anything is possible.

The Hampshire Schools Cup Final will undoubtedly be remembered as a thrilling showcase of talent and sportsmanship, with Weeke Primary emerging as worthy champions. Congratulations to the team on their well-deserved victory, and here's to many more successes in the future

Mon 03 Jul 2023 Jonathan Kirkham

On Friday 30th June 2023, the whole Weeke Primary School community took part in our annual sports day. Despite a few drops of rain it was an outstanding day and the children had the opportunity to take part in a range of field and track events. The children were an absolute credit to the school and showed our school values throughout. Thank you to all the staff involved in organising and running the event. This year the Yellow House took the winning cup despite the score being really close - well done Yellow Team.

  • Festive Update

Fri 03 Dec 2021 Mr Kirkham

We are getting close to the end of the autumn term and our children are beginning to experience some of the opportunities we normally see at this time of year. As you are all aware, schools have had to adjust the way they run and organise themselves. With that in mind, I felt it important to share with you the events and experiences we will be holding over the next couple of weeks.

Obviously, any events we are planning will be subject to risk assessment and regular review of how COVID is affecting the local and regional community. I am sure you can appreciate we want to ensure we have a balance of memorable experiences as well as keeping the school community safe. If you have any further questions, please speak to myself or other members of the senior leadership team.

    Nativity

We are still planning to run our individual performances of the Nativity. Parents who are attending, please adhere to the guidance below. We will reserve the right to refuse entry if parents have not lateral flow tested or are not wearing a mask.

    • Should you develop COVID 19 symptoms, however mild, you should not attend
    • Attendees to take an LFD test before the event and to self-isolate and follow government guidance should a positive test result be returned
    • A maximum of two parents/guardians per child are able to attend
    • Please note that it may be colder than usual as all windows and doors will be opened throughout the performances
    • Audience participation will be limited to clapping only – no shouting or calling out please
    • Attendees over the age of 11 to wear face coverings when attending the event unless exempt
    • Before entry, all attendees will have their temperature checked
    • Hand sanitiser will be made available on entry and exit
    • One toilet will be designated for visitors to limit the spread of possible infection and movement around the school

We hope that the measures put in place mean we can have a safe and enjoyable Nativity experience for all our children and the school community.

Christmas Lunch and Reading Day – 16th December

We are still going ahead with our Christmas lunch and reading day. Children do not need to wear school uniform and can wear a festive outfit or jumper. Measures have been put in place to ensure the smooth and safe running of the Christmas lunch.

    WPSA Events

You will have already received communication regarding the Christmas Discos. Having risk assessed and considered the implications, we will not be running the discos this year.

However, the Christmas Bazaar will continue as the large majority of the events and stalls will be on the school playground. We have some great stalls planned including Christmas games, a variety of tombola, the secrets room and the Original Fry Up Material will be joining us to provide some great food! The Bazaar will take place straight after school so no need to leave the school gates!

Events and Visits outside of School

We will continue with any scheduled sports events as they take place outside and have minimal risk in relation to COVID.

Some year groups have some planned visits to other school settings. These include the Henry Beaufort Pantomime and a music experience visit. We are working with the school to review the risks associated with the trips and if we have to cancel, we will inform parents of any changes to our school trips at the earliest convenience.

    Christmas Cards

This year, children will be able to bring in Christmas cards they have written for their friends and staff. If your child has or is intending to write Christmas cards please ensure that they are clearly labelled with the child’s name and class.

I hope that the information provided above has given parents some clarity and understanding as to the decisions we have made for our children at this time of year. Our intention as a school is to provide children with rich memorable experiences and in the current climate, we can still achieve this by being mindful of the risks associated with COVID and taking measured steps to ensure the school community is safe. If any of the above events are cancelled or postponed, we will inform parents in a convenient and timely manner.

Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to sharing the positive festivities ahead of us.

  • Friday 3rd December - Be Bright Be Seen & WPSA Donation Day

    Tue 30 Nov 2021 Mr Weatherall/WPSA

On Friday 3rd December, in conjunction with the WPSA donation day, we would like children to wear something to ‘Be Bright Be Seen’ to raise awareness of road safety now the days are shorter.

Whether walking to and from school, the shops, or walking the dog, during foggy and overcast days we should wear something bright coloured and something reflective at night to keep us safe. You might have a bag or rucksack with hi-visibility strips. Fluorescent and reflective armbands can be worn over coats and clothing, and stickers can be used on bags. Reflective dots on knees and ankles can really draw attention to keep us all ‘Be Bright Be Seen’.

On Friday, and in return please bring in the following donations towards the Christmas Bazaar:

Year R - sweets or alcoholic drinks

Year 1 - small unused gifts for the secrets room or alcoholic drinks

Year 2 - small unused gifts for the secrets room or alcoholic drinks

    Year 3 - sweets/chocolate or soft drinks

Year 4 - small used gifts for secrets room or sweets

    Year 5 - toys/books or soft drinks

    Year 6 - alcoholic drinks or puzzles/games

Any questions about the donations, please check with your WPSA year rep.
